Mapping the Chaos – The Sex Lives of College Girls (HBO Max)
Before a single camera rolled, my job was to help figure out where they’d go. As Assistant Art Director on The Sex Lives of College Girls, I joined location scouts to break down raw spaces and translate them into actionable design and camera plans. My primary role? Creating detailed director’s plans that became the blueprint for everyone—camera, construction, and set dec.
Each layout mapped out not just how the space would look, but how it could function—where characters would move, where walls could fly, and how the shot could find the joke. These drawings guided the entire prep process, making sure that by the time the crew stepped on set, every piece knew exactly where it belonged.
It was a blend of spatial strategy, storytelling, and a lot of creative logistics—all aimed at helping the director see the possibilities before the walls even went up.
